About us
Ty Nant Timber originally set up business in Sept 2000 as an experiment to recycle arboricultural (tree surgery) waste into saleable products to avoid landfill.
We were originally trading under the name of Welsh Hardwoods but as the main and most viable product was firewood we changed name to The Firewood Man.
Two years later we acquired a Lucas Mill sawmill and started to produce sawn hardwood timber but this didn’t fit in with the name so we changed to Ty Nant Timber but kept the web domain of firewoodman.co.uk
We are proud to do this as all of the wood has come from trees that were taken down or pruned for a reason and would otherwise be turned into a huge mountain of woodchip and left to compost or end up as land fill.
Instead we are able to convert a huge amount of this into a carbon neutral heat and energy giving products such as firewood and biomass woodchip, and providing some very good pieces of milled timber
