TY NANT TIMBER AND FIREWOOD

Starting business in Cardiff South Wales, Ty Nant Timber originally set up in Sept 2000 as an experiment to recycle arboricultural (tree surgery) waste into saleable products to avoid landfill.

We were originally trading under the name of Welsh Hardwoods but as the main and most viable product was firewood we changed name to The Firewood Man.

Two years later we acquired a Lucas Mill sawmill and started to produce sawn hardwood timber but this didn’t fit in with the name so we changed to Ty Nant Timber but kept the web domain of firewoodman.co.uk

To this day we still recycle arboricultural (tree surgery) waste from several local companies into several different products and are the only company in South Wales to specifically deal with wood fuels and its production equipment.

We are proud to do this as all of the wood has come from trees that were taken down or pruned for a reason and would otherwise be turned into a huge mountain of woodchip and left to compost or end up as land fill.

Instead we are able to convert a huge amount of this into a carbon neutral heat and energy giving products such as firewood and biomass woodchip.

Due to the rising demand of timber as a wood fuel for both the domestic and commercial market, we now have to look at other sources of supplychains.

This has now led us down the route of promoting softwood as a sustainable fuel, a dirty word in most peoples minds, but even the stove manufacturers and installers are now promoting it.
